Episode Description: In this episode of Voices from the Front, Anastasia – the Commanding Officer of the Medical Service of the 43rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, describes the casualty evacuation process in detail, for her section of the front line. Anastasia discusses the common front-line injuries, first-line battlefield care and the layout and operations of Role 2 facilities established on the edge of the kill zone. She describes how operations in this sector of the front are greatly complicated by the Oskil River as well as the basic counter-UAS knowledge and equipment employed by field medics. Anastasia also goes on to discuss the onwards transfer of a casualty to a Role 3 hospital.
